M1 Garands For Sale By Us Government

I'm really confused here. I have one of these rifles, a buddy of mine has two. I've tried to compare them to other IHCs found on gunbroker, or elsewhere online, and the barrel dates vs the serial number are all over the place! Did they just throw an LMR barrel on whatever serial number they picked up?
For example, one of the guns in question is serial number 4,613,XXX with a 4-54 dated barrel. I have another one, serial number 5,059,XXX with the same barrel date. All the other guns I'm seeing online within this serial number range have barrels that are close to these and some are so far off it's nuts. Anyone have an answer? I checked out the chart and again, the barrel dates are all over the place.
Someone has 4,611,446 with 5-54
Someone has 5,056,751 and 5,057,179 with 9-54 dated barrels while someone with 5,062,720 has a 4-54 barrel. Others close to that have 1953 and 1955 barrels.
What's going on?
thanks!
